Carrera, Limited Edition, Mikrograph »
With only ten days to go before TAG Heuer unveil the new 2011 Carrera Mikrograph, Calibre 11 can today bring you a second teaser image- this time of the Mikrograph movement. As you may recall from the last post on this watch, the Mikrograph is a new in-house movement that will initially power a Limited Edition Rose Gold Carrera (see image below).
The party-trick of the Mikrograph is its ability to time to 1/100th second accuracy- a feat that matches the Calibre 360 movement, which TAG Heuer developed, albeit never on …
Carrera, Future Models, Limited Edition, Mikrograph »
Given all the celebrations and new products launched in 2010 for TAG Heuer’s 150th anniversary, you could be forgiven for thinking that 2011 will be a relatively quiet year. The good news for the fans is that in the next month or so, we’ll see the first of the 2011 watches, the highlight being the new Carrera Mikrograph. While the details of the watch are still under wraps, Calibre 11 can show you today a sneak preview of the new watch and give a few hints on this exciting new …
F1 Racers, Limited Edition, Monaco, Re-Edition Series »
In 1999 TAG Heuer released this special “Heuer” Monaco to commemorate the Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix. The watch is a limited edition of 120, although only 110 were available to the public, as numbers 111-120 were given to Ron Dennis of McLaren. Why? Well, as I’ve pointed out before, Ron Dennis was not just the boss of the TAG Heuer-sponsored McLaren F1 team, but was also a major shareholder in TAG Heuer itself. So no surprise that Ron kept a handful of these to hand out to sponsors, models …
Calibre 1887, Limited Edition, SLR »
TAG Heuer’s links with motor-sport has provided many an excuse over the years for racing-inspired Chronogragphs. This month alone, TAG Heuer have announced three such watches, all of which were previewed at Basel: the Monaco Twenty-Four and Grey Monaco Vintage have been reviewed before at Calibre 11 and today it’s time to review the new TAG Heuer 300 SLR.
The 300 SLR (Ref. CAR2112) is a tribute to the Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR of the 1950s, which had both a glorious and infamous racing career. The high point was the victory …
6000 Series, Limited Edition, McLaren »
A few months ago, I posted an article on the series of watches that TAG Heuer had released in partnership with the McLaren Formula 1 team.
Several helpful readers pointed out that while the article captured all the Formula 1 linked watches, it missed perhaps the rarest of them all- the TAG Heuer 6000 Chronometer that was given to the 64 owners of the McLaren F1 road car.
Given the fantastic insight and information in the comments posted by Shelton, Erik and Justin, I thought that it was worth summarising their key …
Limited Edition, Monaco, V4 »
Each year the annual Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Geneve awards are presented to recognise the best in the year of Swiss watch making. This year, TAG Heuer is nominated in three categories: Men’s Watches (TAG Heuer 300 SLR) Design and Concept watches (TAG Heuer Monaco V4) and Sport Watches (TAG Heuer Monaco 24).
So far, so good you might think- but take a look at the Monaco V4 that is nominated. Here, for the first time is the second version of the Monaco V4- a Rose Gold edition.
The new V4 (Ref. …

TAG Heuer’s tradition of issuing Limited Edition watches for the Singapore Grand Prix continues in 2010.
The Singapore GP edition was a Grand Carrera in 2008 and a Carrera Day/ Date Carbon Fiber in 2009- and this year? A Monaco and a Lady F1.
The Monaco is based on the Calibre 12″Black McQueen“, but with Green hands and markings in place of the usual red. The watch comes with both a black leather strap (with Green stitching) and a rubber strap .
These great photos below come from PuristSPro- a first-rate website that …
150th Anniversary, Auctions, Limited Edition, Silverstone »
As we posted back in April, The Haslinger collection of vintage Heuer watches will be auctioned by Bonhams in London in December. As part of this auction, TAG Heuer have created a very special version of the Silverstone re-edition- a one-off Red Silverstone that carries Jack Heuer’s signature on the dial.
While the studio photos have been out for a while, thanks to Paul Maudsley of Bonhams, we are able to bring you the first photos of the Silverstone out in the wild (taken in its natural home of Goodwood no …
Limited Edition, Monaco »
Few modern TAG Heuer watches have left as much of an impression as the first time that I saw the Monaco Vintage (CW2118), which was released in 2005 as a limited edition of 4000 watches to mark what would have been the 75th birthday of Steve McQueen.
It was an outrageous design: a crisp white dial (one of the first times a Monaco has been sold with a white dial) matched with bold blue and red stripes on the right hand-side of the dial and with red sub-dials and hands.
The design …
Baselworld 2010, Calibre 1887, Limited Edition, SLR »
Without a doubt the best received production TAG Heuer watch at Basel this year was the TAG Heuer 300 SLR, a limited edition version of the Carrera Calibre 1887 due to be released in the next couple of months.
The 300 SLR (Reference number CAR2112.FC6267) will be launched to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Mercedes 300 SLR victory in the 1952 Carrera Panamericana, which of course is the same race that gave the Heuer Carrera its name.
While based on the new Carrera 1887, the 300 SLR has several important differences, …
6000 Series, F1 Racers, Limited Edition, McLaren, S/el »
In January of this year, I posted an article on Calibre 11 about the various McLaren- branded TAG Heuer watches released over the last few years, which you can read here.
1998 was a special year for McLaren, as it produced their first Drivers and Constructors World Championships since Ayrton Senna supported by Gerhard Berger triumphed in 1991.
In fact, despite having the services of four World Champions since 1998- Hakkinen, Hamilton, Raikkonen and Alonso- several years of Adrian Newey-designed cars and the backing of Mercedes-Benz, McLaren has not won the Constructors …
Limited Edition, SLR »
The TAG Heuer 300 SLR due in October will be the fifth SLR-branded TAG Heuer, a series that began as a limited edition watch only available if you also bought a Mercedes SLR McLaren, which at least gave you a way of getting your watch home fast.
The partnership with Mercedes-Benz grew from the shared association that TAG Heuer and Mercedes-Benz had with the McLaren F1 team, which in the early 2000s had sealed a deal with Mercedes-Benz to produce a Supercar that would be the spiritual successor to the famous …
