Preview: TAG Heuer Mikrotourbillon S

Just when you thought that Basel was over, we can tell you today a little about a very special watch coming from TAG Heuer later this year- the TAG Heuer MikrotourbillonS- yes, a Tourbillon (and a double Tourbillon at that). Even better news for a small group of well-heeled collectors is that this is not a concept watch, but one that will be made in small numbers later this year. The watch is yet another development of the TAG Heuer Mikro platform and another complex high-precision Chronograph.
The watch is still …

First Look: TAG Heuer Carrera 1887 Gold

Continuing with the 2012 Basel TAG Heuer watches are a brace of Gold Carrera 1887 41mm Chronographs- two in 18k Rose Gold and one in Steel and Yellow Gold. The watches continue both the expansion of the Carrera 1887 range, and the tradition of the Carrera in Gold.

The increase in the number of Calibre 1887 Carreras reflects not only the popularity of the initial 1887 series, but also the increased availability of the 1887 movement as TAG Heuer ramps up production.

First Look: TAG Heuer Carrera Mikrogirder 10000

Here is TAG Heuer’s new Concept watch for Basel 2012- the TAG Heuer Carrera Mikrogirder 10000 featuring a unique Chronograph movement that vibrates at 7.2 million beats per hour allowing time to be read to a precision of 5/ 10,000th of a second. Suffering from Deja vu yet? Didn’t TAG Heuer already shown us the same watch with different colours back in January?

The answer is yes and no. The new Mikrogirder 10000 doesn’t measure time any more precisely than its predecessor, but it does offer several meaningful improvements over the …

First Look: TAG Heuer Carrera 1887 43mm

TAG Heuer has expanded the use of its Calibre 1887 movement to another model in the Carrera range- the 2012 Carrera 1887 43mm Chronograph. As the name implies, the watch has a 43mm case diameter, 2mm larger than the existing Carrera 1887 Chronograph.
Along with the larger diameter come a range of tweaks to the design, many of which we have seen on other watches in the Carrera range. While the 41mm Carrera 1887 is still very much a sporting TAG Heuer Chronograph, the larger models veers towards the luxury end …

First Look: 2012 TAG Heuer Carrera Jack Heuer 80th Birthday

A few days ahead of its official launch at Baselworld 2012, we can show you some more photos of the 2012 TAG Heuer Carrera Jack Heuer 80th Birthday Carrera (Ref. CV2119). As the name suggests, the watch commemorates the 80th birthday this year of Jack Heuer, the man who among other notable achievements, launched the Carrera back in 1964 and was CEO of Heuer until its sale in 1982.
It’s appropriate that TAG Heuer chose the Carrera for this limited edition, as it’s not only the model most closely linked with …

TAG Heuer Baselworld 2012 Preview

The main watch show of the year- Baselworld- kicks off next week in Basel, Switzerland. It’s a crazy week where every watch brand vies for the attention of customers, collectors and the press. Around 1800 companies attend Basel, with more than 100,00 visitors expected.
From a watch lover’s point of view, the main attraction is the chance to see the new 2012 watches- an impact that has been lessened now that there is the SIHH/ Geneva launches in January and then Baselworld only a few weeks later.

Like many Swiss brands, TAG …
