Baselworld 2011, Limited Edition, Monaco »
TAG Heuer will release a series of special edition Monaco models in 2011, the first two of which you see here: the Twenty Four Racing and the Monaco Calibre 11 Chronograph- twins in silver and orange.
The Monaco Twenty Four Racing is the first addition to the 24 series since the Gulf striped black model first shown in 2009, while the Calibre 11 Chronograph is a Heuer branded watch in the traditional case that follows the other Heuer-logo watches released in the last two years (the Blue 40th Anniversary Monaco of …
Baselworld 2011, Carrera »
While the Mikrotimer Flying 1000 and Monza re-edition may have been the stars of TAG Heuer’s 2011 Baselworld releases, without a doubt the most important commercial model is the new Carrera Heritage range.
The Carrera Heritage line is a range of automatic watches and Chronographs that take the base template of the Carrera 1887 and add a “flinque” dial finish, bold coloured numerals and hands and a “heritage” font to the sub-dials and tachy bezel. In addition, TAG have designed the pushers of the Carrera Heritage to something closer to the …
Baselworld 2011, Concept Watches, Mikrotimer »
Imagine if a few weeks after delivering its 336 km/h FF supercar, Ferrari announced a new concept car with a top speed of 3,360 km/h. Ten times faster, but exponentially more challenging to get this ten-fold increase in speed.
TAG Heuer have achieved the watch-making equivalent of this feat with the announcement today of the TAG Heuer Mikrotimer Flying 1000, a new in-house concept watch capable of 1/1000th accuracy. You may recall that the Mikrograph set new record back in January for being the first mechanical chronograph to achieve 1/100th accuracy, …
Baselworld 2011, Limited Edition, Monza, Re-Edition Series »
TAG Heuer have brought back the Monza for 2011, with this limited edition Calibre 36 Chronograph shown today at Baselworld 2011. While the case design is almost identical to the original 2000 re-edition, the dial design introduces a new heritage concept.
Most TAG re-edition watches to date have drawn their inspiration from the 1960s and 1970s, but the new Monza goes a lot further back: to the manual-wind Chronographs and stop-watches of the 1910-1930 period. It’s a welcome change, although one that I suspect could be more polarising than the 1960/70s …
Baselworld 2011 »
A week ahead of its unveiling at Baselworld 2011, TAG Heuer has announced the details of the launch of what they are calling the “Apollo Project”.
On 23 March at 18h45 CET, the launch of the 2011 Concept watch at Baselworld will be streamed live at the TH Facebook page- and here at Calibre 11- see the countdown clock and live feed below.
The photo to the right is the only image released, and although we can only see two lime-green digits, there are a few clues.
TAG Heuer will only say that …
Baselworld 2011 »
With the 2011 Basel watch show now only a month away, it’s time to take a look at what we can expect from TAG Heuer.
While Baselworld was traditionally the single event used to launch most new models, this year has been a little different, with the Carrera Mikrograph and Carrera MP4-12C already unveiled at an event in Geneva back in January.
The dominant theme of the 2011 watches will clearly be motor racing, as is evident from the dedicated “Mastering Speed” website. But what I can tell you is that while …
