Carrera, Limited Edition, Review »
The Jack Heuer 80th Birthday Edition Carrera is one of the most anticipated TAG Heuer watches in some time. The watch was first shown at Baselworld in March, and while it is not yet in the stores, we have been able to get our hands on an advanced prototype watch for a few days of use in the real world so that we can bring you the first review.
As the name suggests, this Carrera is made to mark the 80th Birthday of Jack Heuer, the grandson of the TAG Heuer …
Baselworld 2012, Carrera, Limited Edition »
A few days ahead of its official launch at Baselworld 2012, we can show you some more photos of the 2012 TAG Heuer Carrera Jack Heuer 80th Birthday Carrera (Ref. CV2119). As the name suggests, the watch commemorates the 80th birthday this year of Jack Heuer, the man who among other notable achievements, launched the Carrera back in 1964 and was CEO of Heuer until its sale in 1982.
It’s appropriate that TAG Heuer chose the Carrera for this limited edition, as it’s not only the model most closely linked with …
Calibre 360, Carrera, Limited Edition, Series Overview »
The range of ultra-high frequency TAG Heuer “Mikro” watches released over the last 12 months can each trace their lineage back to the brand’s first foray into high-precision Chronographs- the TAG Heuer Carrera Calibre 360. The watch is an evolution of the Carrera 360 Concept from 2005 and was TAG Heuer’s first efforts at in-house mechanical watchmaking for more than 35 years- even if this work on the Calibre 360 was limited to the development of the Chronograph module.
The Carrera Calibre 360 is a range of four (or is it …
Kirium, Limited Edition, Monaco »
A few weeks ago, Mark Moss wrote a couple of great stories that chronicled Heuer and TAG Heuer‘s use of precious metals over the years. I’ve always thought of Heuer and TAG Heuer as makers of sports chronographs, so my taste in case materials doesn’t usually extend far beyond stainless steel…although I will gladly accept a Rose Gold Monaco V4 if pushed!
Still, there is no getting around the fact that some like their watches with a little more bling, and so if a Gold case is not enough, there is …
Carrera, Limited Edition, Mikrograph »
Following the success of the Carrera Mikrograph unveiled in Geneva earlier this year, TAG Heuer has released a second version of the watch- also a Limited Edition. but in Anthracite rather than Brown. There was no initial plan for a second Mikrograph- it was simply a case of the demand for the watch significantly outstripping the supply of the first version, which was limited to 150 watches.
To recap, at the heart of the Carrera Mikrograph is TAG Heuer’s revolutionary Mikrograph movement, which in an integrated in-house Chronograph movement capable of …
Interviews, Limited Edition, Mikrotimer, Pendulum »
Earlier this week I spoke with TAG Heuer CEO Jean-Christophe Babin about TH’s movement strategy- and in particular, what was going on with two of their most innovative movements- the Pendulum and the Mikrotimer.
The Pendulum was unveiled at Basel in March 2010, with the Mikrotimer following exactly a year later. Along with the V4 and the Mikrograph, the four movements are developed and hand-built by the haute horlogerie team at TAG Heuer.
Coming up with cool concepts is one thing, but TAG Heuer have a good record at turning these ideas …
Carrera, F1 Racers, Limited Edition »
With the 2011 Singapore Formula 1 Grand Prix only a few weeks away, TAG Heuer have shown their latest Limited Edition watches to mark the event.
Beginning with the first Singapore GP back in 2008, each year has seen a different model used as the basis for the Singapore Grand Prix Edition- and this year it’s a Carrera Heritage.
Once again the Singapore Edition wears a combination of black and green on both the dial and leather strap, and also like last year there is a 2011 Lady’s Singapore Edition.
Lets take a …
Concept Watches, Limited Edition, Monaco, V4 »
With the benefit of hindsight, we can now say that the Monaco V4 Concept of 2004 marked a turning point for TAG Heuer. Yes, TH had shown some innovative Concept watches before (The Micrograph of 2002 and the Monaco 69 in 2003), but the audacious V4 was the first sign that the “new” TAG Heuer was serious about re-establishing its credentials as a manufacturer and designer of advanced mechanical movements.
Since 2004 TAG has shown a brace of innovative movements- the Calibre 360, the Pendulum, the Mikrograph and Mikrotimer- but it …
Limited Edition, Monaco »
TAG Heuer has released this Special Edition Monaco, featuring a carbon-fibre dial, for sale in the United Kingdom.
The idea of developing a low-key special edition for particular markets has been a popular one recently- for example, last year saw TAG release several special editions, including a yellow Grand Carrera RS150 for Europe, a blue Grand Carrera RS150 for the UK and the Black and Green Monaco for the Singapore Grand Prix.
These watches are usually based on an existing mainstream models, but gently tweaked with different dials, straps or hands from …
Baselworld 2011, Limited Edition, Monaco »
TAG Heuer will release a series of special edition Monaco models in 2011, the first two of which you see here: the Twenty Four Racing and the Monaco Calibre 11 Chronograph- twins in silver and orange.
The Monaco Twenty Four Racing is the first addition to the 24 series since the Gulf striped black model first shown in 2009, while the Calibre 11 Chronograph is a Heuer branded watch in the traditional case that follows the other Heuer-logo watches released in the last two years (the Blue 40th Anniversary Monaco of …
Baselworld 2011, Limited Edition, Monza, Re-Edition Series »
TAG Heuer have brought back the Monza for 2011, with this limited edition Calibre 36 Chronograph shown today at Baselworld 2011. While the case design is almost identical to the original 2000 re-edition, the dial design introduces a new heritage concept.
Most TAG re-edition watches to date have drawn their inspiration from the 1960s and 1970s, but the new Monza goes a lot further back: to the manual-wind Chronographs and stop-watches of the 1910-1930 period. It’s a welcome change, although one that I suspect could be more polarising than the 1960/70s …
Carrera, Future Models, Limited Edition, McLaren, Review »
While the big news to come from TAG Heuer’s pre-Basel collection last week was the Carrera Mikrograph, the release of the Carrera MP4-12C was just as eagerly anticipated, especially for the many fans who also closely follow the McLaren team on and off the track.
Last week we showed you the official press photos of the watch, but today we can bring you a detailed review from the launch that gives a better perspective of the intricate design of this Limited Edition watch, as well as an interview with TAG Heuer’s …
