Precious Metals: Part II- 1985-Today

We wants it… we neeeeeds it… the precioussss.
Sorry, small Gollum moment there. Where were we? Ah yes. We’d seen how silver was an important case material around the turn of the 20th century, before fairly quickly losing out to modern steels.
We’d seen gold make an appearance before becoming relatively uncommon in favour of gold-filled (where a layer of solid gold is bonded to a base metal) and later gold-plated watches (where a much thinner layer of gold (typically somewhere between 100 and as much as 100,000 times thinner than filled …

Series Overview: TAG Heuer Grand Carrera

The launch of the Grand Carrera range in 2007 was a crucial one for TAG Heuer. Not only was it the first new series introduced since the S/el way back in 1987, but the new range had the tough task of pushing into a more premium segment of the market and to an older set of buyers, many of whom may have never owned a TAG Heuer before.

Here it is: TAG Heuer Grand Carrera Pendulum

Having bought you the first images of the Pendulum movement, we can now share with you the very first photos of the TAG Heuer Grand Carrera Pendulum and its secret- this watch does not have a hairspring to regulate the movement- instead, it uses magnets.
This explains why TAG Heuer have joined forces with Tesla, because Telsa is not only the name of a car company, but also the name of the units of magnetic force- so a nice tie-in.
The Pendulum concept started about four years ago and is still in concept form- expect it …

What’s in the box?

Nice looking box…only available in Portugal. Any guesses?
For those of you who have been unable to decide on whether to buy a TAG Heuer Grand Carrera or a TAG Heuer Meridiist phone comes the answer- buy both!
The bundle is to mark the 25th anniversary of what the press release calls “the TAG/ Heuer alliance”. There are only 25 of these sets, so book your ticket to Lisbon and pick up your news toys. Not sure on the price, but expect it to be steep.
