    Hey DC

What does maul wind automatic mean? As I like the 1887 but reluctant to buy it as looking for an automatic. The WV211B is more my style.

    Thanks

Hi Siv- a mechanical watch is either manual or automatic. The Carrera 1887 is an automatic…no need to wind it.

TAG Heuer offer only one manual-wind watch: The Carrera Calibre 1.

hey guys! I am sorry to ask again but I am a bit confused reading several blogs/ forums concerning the Carrera 1887. Some say that you have to wind it? What is it after all? I am very interested in buying the v.2 and I would like to know. Is it completely automatic or not? Do I just wear it and never care again about its energy preservation? Thanks very much and btw GREAT SITE. From all that I read it is the most resourceful. Cheers :)

    Hi George,

No problems. The Carrera 1887 is an automatic watch. It needs no battery or winding- its a self-winding movement that if you wear it during a normal, active day should hold charge for about 40 hours.

You might hear about people winding their automatic watch- If you’ve not worn your watch for a few days it will lose its charge and so you can give it a few winds to get it moving.

Thanks- pleased you like the site. Keep reading!
