Hi ST,

I haven't seen too many (any?) second-hand 300 SLRs on the market yet, so hard to be too definitive about how well they hold their value. I have noticed that higher-end TAG Heuers are holding their value better than I'd expect- Monaco 40th Edition; Grand Carrera Calibre 36.

Having said that, the reality is that most watches lose value initially. In the medium-term, the market decides whether prices go back up or not. My advice would be to buy whichever watch you prefer and then don't put yourself through the stress of checking back on 2nd hand prices after a few months..

Re: your last question, this is an automatic watch, meaning that once the power reserve has wound down, you'll need to wear it for a few minutes (or wind it) to generate some power in the watch, and yes, you'll have to re-set the time.

Hello and thanks for good information about watches.
I wonder how the value of this watch will remain in value since it is limited.
There are different prices from different countries, but in Norway it costs about $ 6500 so it is more expensive than for example
a model of Breitling or Panerai.
When Panerai is one of the watches I am considering instead of SLR so I would like to ask you what you think is the best purchase.
I know Panerai often stock between 1000 and 2000 editions of each model, and remains, therefore, quite good in price.
But when I look at older Tag Heuer on the Internet, they have lost a lot of the retail price just after it is purchased.
Very nice if you could give me some feedback on this.
I also wonder if the clock sets itself again after I have removed it, or if I have to turn the power back also set the time again?

Jaysurge,

I don't know of any modern watch that appreciates in the short-term- Rolex, Omega, Patek...they all drop. Medium- long term can be a different story, but I wouldn't buy a watch thinking/ hoping that it will be an investment that will appreciate greatly...if it does, then it's a bonus.

I have the option of getting the limited edition at a decent price <4500 USD. My question is whether or not this watch will appreciate. I would thinks so since it is a limited edition, but could not get a good feel for this on the internet. In general TAGs did not seem to hold their value or appreciate. This watch seems to be different. Even without the appreciation, I love the look of the watch.

Hi Cliffster,

Yes, I'm a fan of the Heuer logo on watches like these. I posted a review here:
 <a href="http://www.calibre11.com/review-tag-heuer-300-slr/" rel="nofollow">http://www.calibre11.com/review-tag-heuer-300-slr...</a>

You'll see there that I mention that yes, the number finally produced was 5000.

Enjoy your watch
