Building on the success of the Connected Smartwatch range, TAG Heuer has added a 41mm model as its first launch of the year. The Connected Modular 41 uses the same case design and materials as the larger Connected 45 and of course the same modular system for swapping components. But there are some differences inside, with the Connected 41 gaining an upgraded screen and additional RAM.
The Connected 41 is being pitched as a unisex model. Yes, there are several new strap options designed for women, but men will have no issues wearing the 41mm model, given that this is the same size case as the outgoing Carrera 1887.
There are three new straps for the Connected 41: pink, blue or white leather. The leather had a rubber base, similar to other TAG Heuer straps. There are a total of 9 different straps for the newest Connected.
Let’s take a look at the specs of the Connected 41 relative to the original Connected and the larger Connected 45.
|Connected||Connected Modular 45||Connected Modular 41|
|Resolution||360 X 360||400 X 400||390 x 390|
The standout features of the new model are the brighter, higher PPI (pixels per inch, meaning a clearer display) and the additional RAM. The only sacrifice made with the smaller case size is the battery capacity, although we’ll hold judgement until we can test whether this has any real-world impact on battery life. The watch uses the Intel Cloverdale Peak processor, which is part of the Z34XX family, and the same processor on the larger Connected models.
What Stays the same?
The centre case uses the same titanium Grade 5 material, albeit in a smaller case diameter and a slightly slimmer profile (13.2mm vs 13.75mm for the 45) There is of course still the option to fit a mechanical watch module, again a Calibre 5 module.
The Connected 41 is water-resistant to 50 metres and features GPS, and an NFC sensor enabling contactless payment via Android Pay.
45mm or 41mm?
Geneva Sidebar- 2018 Diamond Connected Modular 45
Still prefer the larger 45mm Connected? Looking for something a little more special than the standard model? TAG Heuer has the watch for you, with this 45mm model made from White Gold and paved with baguette diamonds
The case is made from 18K polished white gold, and features 589 VVS baguette size diamonds on the bezel (78), the lugs (16) and the bracelet (495)- 23.35 carats of diamonds in total.
The Calibre 5 module also features diamonds, this time on the bezel, which features 72 1.5 mm diameter diamonds.
Given the amount of white gold and the numbers of diamonds, you might expect that the 2018 Connected Diamonds (Ref. SBF8A4000) is quite expensive…and you’d be right. The Swiss price for the watch is CHF 190,000.
2018 TAG Heuer Connected Modular 41- Price and Availability

The black titanium-carbide coated watch and bracelet is the top of the range 41mm model, priced at US$2,950.
