A second Rose Gold and Titanium Carrera Heuer-01 has been added to the range for 2017, with a series of small updates over the existing model that we reviewed in detail last year. A summary of the changes? Some of the black detailing has been swapped out for Anthracite details. And even though the changes are relatively small, TAG Heuer says that the 2016 model will remain on sale.
The case is the same- a 45mm titanium case (coated in titanium carbide) with Rose Gold horns- and even the basics of the dial remain the same. It’s the details of the dials that differ, as you can see below.
The changes are as follows:
- Anthracite inner plate rather than black
- Rhodium-plated 12 and 6 o’clock counters rather than black gold
- “Automatic” text in white rather than red
Like we said, these are subtle, rather than radical, changes.
The other change is the availability of a new tan strap. To our eyes, the tan does not work as well with the design as a plain black strap (leather or rubber) would and that’s before we get to the large TAG Heuer logo.
The idea of using an oversized logo on the strap was first seen on the Connected watch, which seems like a more natural fit..or maybe it would work with the Formula 1 series. But from both a colour and a logo perspective, this is not the combination we’d choose.
Strap aside, the Rose Gold & Titanium Carrera Heuer-01 remains one of the better looking high-end TAG Heuer Chronographs, losing nothing in the transition from black to anthracite.
