TAG Heuer’s Lady Aquaracer collection has gained a series of new models, each of which features a ceramic case and bracelet. The Lady collection pioneered the use of ceramics at TAG Heuer, with the launch in 2012 of the Steel & Ceramic Formula 1 Lady models. However those watches were made from steel but with a ceramic bezel and bracelet links. The new Aquaracer models? Made entirely from ceramic.
So what is so special about ceramic? It’s main benefits are lightness and strength- lighter than steel, but also harder, which means the watch will be less prone to scratches. The other advantage is that the because the watch is made from coloured ceramics, the surfaces will keep their original colour, even as the watch ages.
The new models are available in a 35mm case, which represents an increase over the previous models which were either 27mm or 32mm.
There are four models in the 2016 range at launch: Black, White, Black & Rose Gold and Black & Diamonds.
Aquaracer 300m Ceramic Black- Reference WAY1390
Aquaracer 300m Ceramic White- Reference WAY1391
Aquaracer 300m Ceramic Black & Rose Gold- Reference WAY1355
Aquaracer 300m Ceramic Black & Diamonds- Reference WAY1395
The Black & Diamonds model features 60 diamonds around the bezel with a total of 0.27 carats.
Movement and Caseback
The watch uses the same caseback design as the men’s Aquaracer series, with a solid steel caseback with an engraved divers helmet.
Sitting behind this caseback is a quartz movement (ETA 955.112) – at this stage there is no mechanical movement option.
